I have been reading a Bible Study that encouraged me to write a âGod Listâ. This is a list where we write down the attributes of God that remind us of who He is personally to us. This reminded me of our bedtime routine that we have with our boys. Itâs a precious time that I set apart with the two of them individually, right before they go to sleep. Lately, Chase has been asking questions about when I was a child and my growing up years. He wants to know about my past and I enjoy our time together where we laugh about things that probably werenât so funny at the time, but I can laugh about them with him now.
We began our God list tonight. I woke up this morning with the impression that I needed to teach the boys this concept too: that itâs not just for me, but something for them for the moments in their lives that will be challenging, they will remind themselves to remember who God is and what He has done for our family.
You see the Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 6:8 to teach our children diligently the truth of Godâs word and to make it personal to them. We are meant to tell them about what God has done for us and how He is real and present for them too.
We were excited to read together tonight, in Proverbs 30:5, that God is our wrap-around shield. We started praying that over our our family and wow… what a promise! We added it to our God list, and put a star by it to remind us to declare this promise of WHO He is over everyone we know.
âEvery promise from the faithful God is pure and proves to be true. He is a wrap around shield of protection for all His Lovers who run to hide in Him.âÂ
