“I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,”
Deuteronomy 30:19 AMP
The thing that sticks out to me with this verse is the word choose! We have a choice right now to speak curses, fear, or negativity. However, the opposite is also a choice. We can speak hope, life, and blessings. The words we speak carry weight. Yes, many facts are screaming at us right now; however, God is still God! He remains faithful to His children and to His Word! He cannot lie, and He cannot FAIL us!
Now more than ever we have to be careful what we say. I choose to speak life, health, love, and blessings! I choose to smile and spread kindness to others! I choose to be generous and not hoard, knowing that my God will take care of my family. I choose joy regardless of my circumstances.
One thing we are doing with our son is picking out a scripture and writing it down and speaking it throughout the day. On the YouVersion Bible app, you can pick how you are feeling and scriptures on that topic will populate. For example, facts might say you feel afraid but truth says, He did not give you a spirit of fear but power, love, and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7)
“Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose.” Proverbs 18:21 MSG
There is so much truth in that verse. There is the word choose again! What kind of words are you digesting and speaking poison or fruit? We have a choice what words we will allow into your minds and into our mouths.
One of my favorite things to do is to pray the Word of God. Here are some verses that you can pray individually or as a family to speak Life!
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
John 14:27 NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you” — this is the Lord’s declaration — “plans for your well- being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 CSB
“I know what it means to lack, and I know what it means to experience overwhelming abundance. For I’m trained in the secret of overcoming all things, whether in fullness or in hunger. And I find that the strength of Christ’s explosive power infuses me to conquer every difficulty.”
Philippians 4:12-13 TPT
“But in the day that I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. What harm could a man bring to me? With God on my side I will not be afraid of what comes. The roaring praises of God fill my heart, and I will always triumph as I trust his promises.”
Psalms 56:3-4 TPT
“His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under his covering of majesty and hide. His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.”
Psalms 91:4 TPT
“You will be guarded by God himself. You will be safe when you leave your home and safely you will return. He will protect you now, and he’ll protect you forevermore!”
Psalms 121:8 TPT
Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with uncontainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in him. And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with his super-abundance until you radiate with hope!”
Romans 15:13 TPT
“Your perfection and faithfulness are my bodyguards, for you are my hope and I trust in you as my only protection.”
Psalms 25:21 TPT
“Lord, even when your path takes me through the valley of deepest darkness, fear will never conquer me, for you already have! You remain close to me and lead me through it all the way. Your authority is my strength and my peace. The comfort of your love takes away my fear. I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.”
Psalms 23:4 TPT
What are you choosing to speak and think about today?
Speak Life and watch the darkness flee!
